Who we are…
Our parish was founded in 1916 by a group of recent immigrants from what is today the Carpathian mountain areas of Ukraine and Slovakia. St. Michael’s has thrived for more than 100 years as a diverse community made up of Eastern Catholics of many kinds, Latin Rite (Roman) Catholics who are attracted to the solemnity of Byzantine liturgical ritual, and the curious who often find a home in our welcoming community.
St. Michael’s is a parish under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, practicing the Catholic faith according to the Byzantine Rite as it developed in the Kyivan tradition and in full communion with the Pope of Rome. Our bishop is headquartered at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Chicago, IL. Our services are celebrated predominantly in English, with some Ukrainian. With roots in our tradition, we welcome all to our parish!
